AUCA ADMISSIONS EXAMS
All AUCA applicants must demonstrate a sufficient level of English and Academic ability by taking AUCA admissions exam. Students may choose to take the AUCA Admissions Exams, or opt to take their equivalent.
For English Proficiency, students must take one of the following exams:
- AUCA English Language Proficiency Test or
- Official TOEFL Certificate (paper-based or internet-based) – REPORT TO AUCA INSTITUTION CODE 0419 or
- Official IELTS Certificate – REPORT TO AUCA INSTITUTION CODE 8306 FOR UNDERGRADUATE APPLICATIONS AND 8305 FOR GRADUATE APPLICATIONS
- Official Duolingo Certificate
For Academic Proficiency, students must take one on the following exams:
- AUCA Admission Exam (essay and mathematics test) or
- SAT Reasoning Test (SAT I) – REPORT TO AUCA INSTITUTION CODE 5825 or
- ACT Test Plus Writing – REPORT TO AUCA INSTITUTION CODE 5479

English Language Proficiency Test
The English language proficiency test consists of two parts: Structure and Written expression and Reading Comprehension. The English language proficiency test assesses text comprehension skills and the level of English grammar. The test includes 90 questions: Structure and Written expression consists of 40 questions and lasts 25 minutes, Reading Comprehension consists of 50 questions and lasts 55 minutes, with overall duration of 80 minutes.
In the Structure and Written expression section, you need to identify errors in given sentences and find the missing word in the proposed sentences. In the Reading Comprehension section, you need to carefully read short passages and answer the questions given. The passages are related to literature, social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences.
The results of the English language proficiency test range from a minimum of 205 points to a maximum of 675 points.
Essay in English
The purpose of the essay written examination is to assess applicants’ academic writing skills, ability to organize and structure ideas on certain topic and provide coherent and clear argumentation. Three different topics are given, and the test taker must choose one and write an essay on that topic. The essay topics are general in nature, and the main criteria is the ability to argue your point of view. For example: “Do social media and the internet help people communicate and build relationships, or the opposite? Support your answer with arguments.”
The structure of the essay should include an introduction, a main body, and a conclusion. Essay written examination lasts 60 minutes and must be at least one page long.
The essay score ranges from 0 to 100 points.
Mathematics
The mathematics test evaluates knowledge of mathematical terminology in English and problem-solving skills. It is conducted in the form of a test, consists of 20 multiple choice questions, and lasts 60 minutes.
The questions cover topics of the school program.

Appeal
In case of disagreement with the exam results, the applicant has the right to file an appeal to the appeals committee on the following dates:
- March 13, 2026 — rooms G22 and G24, from 15:30 to 17:00
- April 3, 2026 — rooms G22 and G24, from 15:30 to 17:00
- May 15, 2026 — rooms G22 and G24, from 15:30 to 17:00
- June 10, 2026 — rooms G22 and G24, from 15:30 to 17:00
